What is conservatorship in Texas? Conservatorship is used to describe custody in Texas. There are two components:

  • Managing Conservatorship - refers to who makes the decisions that affect the child’s upbringing, like where they go to school, what medical care they receive, what religious practices they are exposed to, and more.

  • Possessory Conservatorship - refers to the time the child spends with each parent (parenting time or visitation).
