Paralegal

BIO

What is your role at HBLF?

“I am a paralegal but started here as a legal assistant.”

Melissa began her paralegal journey after walking through her own personal family law matter with Hannah years ago.

“I know what it’s like to feel scared and ignorant of the law, I’ve walked the same path as many of our clients.”

Entering the family law profession gave me the opportunity to further my knowledge for own my family and the opportunity to help others that may be feeling the way I had in the past. I feel like knowledge helps us all to overcome the fear of the unknown. I strive to give our clients a sense of peace, understanding and hope that life can still be great after this season in life. My family is now blended, we have a total of 5 children. I’ve walked through very similar paths as most of our clients and I can offer real-life understanding along with knowledge of the law.

What do you enjoy about working in family law?

I have always had the heart to help others. In my previous line of work, I was helping a corporation, but now I get to help real people with real life-altering issues.

In my free time, I love spending time with my family. I love to travel and be outdoors. A large part of my adolescence was spent in Alaska, being outside, and hiking will always have a huge piece of my heart and my happy place. I love to garden, but just flowers. Don’t ask me to harvest anything as my green thumb doesn’t extend that far. We are animal lovers with 3 cats and 2 dogs. We have three school-aged children in the house, so you can often find me at a volleyball, basketball, soccer, football, or baseball game.
