Mai Bayless

Mai Bayless is a dedicated family law attorney whose practice is built on compassion, advocacy, and a steadfast commitment to helping clients navigate some of life’s most challenging moments. Fluent in both English and Vietnamese, Mai proudly serves clients from diverse backgrounds, ensuring they feel heard, understood, and empowered throughout the legal process.

Originally from Vietnam, Mai earned her Juris Doctor with Honors from South Texas College of Law Houston in 2022. During law school, she distinguished herself as a Part-Time Student Senator, Vice President of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, and Assistant Editor of the South Texas Law Review. She was admitted to the State Bar of Texas and commissioned as an active-duty Judge Advocate (JAG) in the United States Army.

Mai began her legal career as a Legal Assistance Attorney, where she advised Soldiers, retirees, and their families on a broad range of civil legal matters, including estate planning, wills, divorce, family law, and landlord-tenant disputes. In this role, she provided legal services to one of the Army’s largest military communities, helping individuals and families protect their futures and resolve difficult personal matters.

She later served as a Special Victim Counsel, representing both adult and child victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. This highly selective position required exceptional legal advocacy, discretion, and empathy while guiding clients through sensitive and emotionally complex cases. Mai worked tirelessly to protect victims’ rights and ensure their voices were heard throughout military investigations and court proceedings.

In her final active-duty assignment, Mai served as a Trial Counsel (military prosecutor), prosecuting misdemeanor and felony offenses on behalf of the United States Army. She successfully litigated numerous criminal cases, including securing a conviction resulting in a 13-year sentence for child sexual abuse. Her excellence in advocacy earned her the prestigious 2025 U.S. Army Judge Advocate Legal Services Award for Excellence, an honor awarded annually to only two attorneys among approximately 5,000 active-duty Army Judge Advocates worldwide.
